As the Administrator of Simmons Residential, I passed a state-wide exam that provided me with my license to operate Adult Residential Facilities that serve people with developmental and intellectual disabilities. Here at Simmons, I help create new policies that enable more effective day-to-day operations, such as regular shift reports, Google Chat task management, and so on. Additionally, I serve the clients, such as cooking, disbursing medication and taking them to appointments.
I have been in the caregiving field for a few years, starting out in the field of mental health, where I worked at residential treatment centers serving people with drug and alcohol addiction or with mental health problems. I eventually shifted to working with people with developmental and intellectual disabilities, which I enjoy the most. Here at Simmons, we have a great team and wonderful, respectful clients--I couldn't ask for more.

My name is Vincent. I have been caregiving for little over 10 years. I enjoy helping the clients making sure they get to appointments on time help them with day to day stuff they may have going on that week.
The staff /co-workers are great to work with. The clients are wonderful and I try to take them for walks as part of our exercise a couple days a week. It's a good place to work at.

My name is Sylvia Garcia. I've been working for Simmons residential Care for 7 and 1/2 years. I started working for Miss Daisy Simmons. She's the owner of this facility. I became her caregiver. Miss Daisy gave me the opportunity to work for her. She was an awesome lady to work for. We shared a lot about our personal lives. Not always about work with her she made me feel like my opinion mattered she also taught me how to cook grits her way and I truly enjoy those times It was a blessing for me to get to know her. She taught me a lot. Then I began working for Ms. Daisy's clients are young adults with disabilities. It offered me an experience that enriched my life as I enriched their lives, I provided assistance in a meaningful way. Also a connection and growth for everyone involved.
There's a female client and she enjoys Church crossword puzzle books, shopping and going out to eat. She loves to talk about her day or her week with me and there's another male client and he also enjoys church. His iPad, electronics and spending time with his brother and there is another male client that enjoys cooking, healthy foods, talking to his dad daily on the phone, playing his games on TV or sharing about his day at work. I do help them achieve personal goals and I'm able to witness each individual's gain skills and build confidence and help them overcome obstacles. It's rewarding.
I truly love and enjoy working at Simmons residential Care as they are family to me. It's important to keep that family environment here. It offers joy, love and building lasting relationships and a compassionate world for them. Sometimes their own family doesn't come to see them or they have no family so we become their family. My hobbies are reading my Bible and it always allows me to focus on my personal growth and my belief. It keeps me motivated in the things of God going to church on Sundays and Bible studies during the week nights. This helps with my relationship with God and it helps me grow in my faith and teaches me to also understand the Bible , bicycling also is another hobby that helps with healthy living.

I enjoy meditating when I ride my bike and just looking at the beauty that surrounds me. I love family time. It's more than just physical. It brings me a nurturing environment conversation and an emotional outlet. I come from a strong family and we're very close. We love to bond. We love to celebrate birthday holidays, have cookouts hanging out together or just talking about old stories reminiscing as we all grew up as kids or hearing about my mom and dad's stories.

My name is Mark and I recently joined the Simmons Residential Care Facility. I chose to work here because I had just recently retired and after a month decided I needed a part time job. I was fortunate enough to get hired, the three things I really like about working here are:
1. Great work environment.
2. Great facility to work in.
3. Great clients to work with.
The bottom line is I have work, life, balance.
